Because it is appropriate to give teachers and volunteers the respect of asking them prior to assigning roles, the following is ONLY AN EXAMPLE. After roles are filled, schedules will be provided and resources identified to assist parents!
EXAMPLE ONLY - The following is to provide an illustration as to what a schedule MAY look like, once confirmed with teachers.
The following is a potential suggested schedule:
On Monday from 1:00-2:00, a parent may facilitate gym time with friends at a park or the church gym to fulfill the Pennsylvania Gym requirement.
On Tuesday from 1:00-2:00, a parent may decide to spend some time on reading class (using either the Abeka Curriculum or reading material of your own choosing) and spelling (using the Abeka Curriculum or curriculum of your choosing). This will fulfill the Pennsylvania reading and spelling requirement for elementary aged students.
On Wednesday from 1:00-2:00, a parent could choose to do music and art activities on alternating weeks. For Art, this could be putting together a seasonal craft project, playing with playdough, or doing some fingerpainting. For Music, this could be your child's weekly instrument lesson. Or, if they don't take an instrument, you could put on some classical music, sing a few child-friendly songs, etc. This will fulfill the Pennsylvania requirement for art and music.
On Thursday from 1:00-2:00, a parent may decide to spend some time on reading class (using either the Abeka Curriculum or reading material of your own choosing) and spelling (using the Abeka Curriculum or curriculum of your choosing). This will fulfill the Pennsylvania reading and spelling requirement for elementary aged students.
Friday is a flexible day, as all schooling will be completed at-home. Parents may decide to get together and take a field trip to the zoo or science center. Alternatively, a school at-home day could include completing assignments from in-person hybrid school, reading and spelling class as outlined above, and some computer activities (Edutyping, etc.) If you start around 8:00 or so, school should be finished before noon leaving the day open for library visits, outside education, etc.
