Under PA law, a certified evaluator must agree to co-sign a homeschooled student's 12th grade diploma. If you have a student in high school, it is important for you to locate an evaluator that will be willing to do this. The PA Department of Education recommends that the same evaluator be used throughout high school. However, this is not mandatory. If your family joins the Pennsylvania Homeschooler Accreditation Agency (phaa.org), this will help you streamline the process. PHAA offers a certified diploma program. There are specific requirements set forth in it. Students completing this program will be assisted in finding an evaluator willing to co-sign their diplomas. Please see PHAA's Guide to PA Homeschoolers Diploma for more information on its program.
